Herein we report the synthesis of 4-aryl-1-benzyl-1H-1,2,3-triazoles (atl), made via “”Click chem.”” and their incorporation as cyclometalating ligands into new heteroleptic iridium(III) complexes containing diimine (N∩N) ancillary ligands 2,2′-bipyridine (bpy) and 4,4′-di-tert-butyl-2,2′-bipyridine (dtBubpy). Depending on decoration, these complexes emit from the yellow to sky blue in acetonitrile (ACN) solution at room temperature (RT). Recent studies have shown that inhibitors of the renin-angiotensin system (I-RAS) such as angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor (ACE-I) and angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) are effective for IgA nephropathy (IgAN). Twenty-six IgAN patients were studied retrospectively. The patients were divided into two groups according to the grade of reduction of urinary protein excretion: the responder group (n = 12) and the non-responder group (n = 14). The modality of treatment was determined by the clin. and histol. findings of each patient. No significant difference before treatment was observed between the responder and non-responder groups. In the evaluation of the outcome after treatment, the amounts of urinary protein excretion one year after treatment and at the final observation significantly decreased in the responder group but remained unchanged in the non-responder group. However, the levels of serum-creatinine, urinary red blood cell sediment, and mean blood pressure were not significantly different between both groups. Histol., the rate of glomerular obsolescence, interstitial inflammatory cell infiltration and interstitial fibrosis tended to be higher in the non-responder group than in the responder group, and the rate of crescent formation tended to be higher in the responder group than in the non-responder group, but did not reach statistical significance. The grades of mesangial cell proliferation and mesangial matrix increase were not significantly different between both groups. The grade of arterio- and arteriolosclerosis was significantly higher in the non-responder group than in the responder group (0.92 ± 0.52 vs. 1.91 ± 1.08, p = 0.043, 1.08 ± 0.79 vs. 1.78 ± 0.97, p = 0.033). These findings suggest that arterio- and arteriolo-sclerosis could be a predictor for the effectiveness of I-RAS in IgAN patients.

Herein, we report a novel self-powered photodiode, which is based on all solution-processed active layer made of bulk heterojunction of TPD:Alq3. The photodiodes can be utilized for the detection of UV radiation in a self-powered mode without the need for an external power supply. The optimized photodiode with TPD:Alq3 (1:2) active layer presented a sensitivity, responsivity and detectivity of 1.76 x 103, 5.22 x 10-4 A/W and 3.11 x 1010 Jones, resp. at zero biased mode under 365 nm UV light. We proposed a new approach of utilizing impedance matching to deliver the maximum power of photodiodes to the external load. Nevertheless, with a tool of minimized impedance, one can nearly get the full functionality of the photodiode at zero biased volt, but with zero power delivery to the tool. The performance of TPD:Alq3 based photodiodes outperformed that of photodiodes reported in literature.
