Dissecting the Role of the Sergeants in Supramolecular Helical Catalysts: From Chain Capping to Intercalation

Controlling the properties of supramolecular assemblies requires unveiling the specific interactions between their components. In the present work, the catalytic properties and structure of co-assemblies composed of a benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxamide (BTA) ligand coordinated to copper (the soldier) and seven enantiopure BTAs (the sergeants) have been determined. Whatever the sergeant, the enantioselectivity of the reaction is directly proportional to the optical purity of the supramolecular helices. More strikingly, the role played by the sergeant in the co-assembly process differs significantly: from almost pure intercalator (when it is incorporated in the stacks of the soldier and generates long homochiral helices) to pure chain capper (when it leads to the formation of partly helically biased and short assemblies). The former situation leads to optimal enantioselectivity for the catalytic system under study (58 % ee) while the latter situation leads to very low selectivity (8 % ee). The successful rationalization of this high and unexpected difference is crucial for the development of more efficient catalysts and more elaborate supramolecular systems.

Ni-gamma-AL(2)O(3) catalysts for obtaining nanocarbon by decomposition of natural gas

gamma-Al2O3 was synthesized by the Sol-gel method, Ni (NO3)(2) was placed in the pores by the impregnation method, and Ni-gamma-Al2O3 was obtained by pyrolysis in a hydrogen stream in a CVD device. By the method of chemical vapors phase deposition (CVD) on Ni-Al2O3 catalytic converter with decomposition of methane in the natural gas produced carbon nanotubes (CNT) (Chunduri et al. in Mater Express 4(3):235-241, 2014; Zhou et al. in Appl Catal B 208:44-59, 2017). The catalytic activity of the catalysts in methane decomposition was examined from 650 degrees C to 900 degrees C by the method of chemical vapors phase deposition (CVD), the yield of CNTs tends to increase with the growth at the ratio of natural gas supply to hydrogen. The specific surface increases with an increase of nickel content and can reach 265.5 m(2)/g for a sample of 2% Ni-A1(2)O(3) at 850 degrees C. Growth at the temperature of methane decomposition leads to reduction in its specific surface. It has been established that the use of the Ni-Cu/gamma-Al2O3 catalytic system, in which copper acts as a stabilizing additive, makes it possible to double the maximum yield of the carbon product during the decomposition of natural gas.

In situ X-ray absorption study of Cu species in Cu-CHA catalysts for NH3-SCR during temperature-programmed reduction in NO/NH3

Ammonia-mediated selective catalytic reduction (NH3-SCR) using Cu-exchanged chabazite zeolites as catalysts is one of the leading technologies for NOx removal from exhaust gases, with Cu-II/Cu-I redox cycles being the basis of the catalytic reaction. The amount of Cu-II ions reduced by NO/NH3 can be quantified by the consumption of NO during temperature-programmed reduction experiments (NO-TPR). In this article, we show the capabilities of in situ X-ray absorption near-edge spectroscopy (XANES), coupled with multivariate curve resolution (MCR) and principal component analysis (PCA) methods, in following Cu-II/Cu-I speciation during reduction in NO/NH3 after oxidation in NO/O-2 at 50 degrees C on samples with different copper loading and pretreatment conditions. Our XANES results show that during the NO/NH3 ramp Cu-II ions are fully reduced to Cu-I in the 50-290 degrees C range. The number of species involved in the process, their XANES spectra and their concentration profiles as a function of the temperature were obtained by MCR and PCA. Mixed ligand ammonia solvated complexes [Cu-II(NH3)(3)(X)](+) (X = OH-/O- or NO3-) are present at the beginning of the experiment, and are transformed into mobile [Cu-I(NH3)(2)](+) complexes: these complexes lose an NH3 ligand and become framework-coordinated above 200 degrees C. In the process, multiple Cu-II/Cu-I reduction events are observed: the first one around 130 degrees C is identified with the reduction of [Cu-II(NH3)(3)(OH/O)](+) moieties, while the second one occurs around 220-240 degrees C and is associated with the reduction of the ammonia-solvated Cu-NO3- species. The nitrate concentration in the catalysts is found to be dependent on the zeolite Cu loading and on the applied pretreatment conditions. Ammonia solvation increases the number of Cu-II sites available for the formation of nitrates, as confirmed by infrared spectroscopy.

The proportionality constant is the rate constant for the particular unimolecular reaction. the reaction rate is directly proportional to the concentration of the reactant. I hope my blog about 16606-55-6 is helpful to your research. COA of Formula: C4H6O3.

Digital image analysis for measuring nanogap distance produced by adhesion lithography

A simple digital image analysis for measuring nanogap distance produced by adhesion lithography is proposed. Adhesion lithography produces metal electrodes with sub-15 nm undulated space and mum to mm scale width without using electron beam lithography. Although the process has been rapidly improved in recent years, there has been no generalized procedure to evaluate the nanogap distance. In this study, we propose a procedure to evaluate a nanogap electrode with large width/gap distance ratios (>1000). The procedure is to determine the average distance of nanogap space from the area and the perimeter of the space by the analysis of the grayscale image. This procedure excludes any arbitrariness of the estimation and gives quantitative comparison of nanogap electrodes produced by different processes.

The metal complexes of 1-(phenylamino)-4, 4, 6-trimethyl-3, 4-dihydropyrimidine-2-(1H)-thione: Preparation, physical, spectroscopic studies and antibacterial properties

Objective: The metal complexes of 1-(Phenylamino)-4, 4, 6-trimethyl-3, 4-dihydropyrimidine-2-(1H)-thione: preparation, physical and spectroscopic studies and preliminary antibacterial properties. Methods: Complexes of bidentate ligand containing N, S-bridge [M(pmpt)2(H2O)n] (M(II) = Cu, Mn, Ni, Co; n = 2 and M(II) = Zn, Cd, Pd; n = 0) derived from the reaction of Hpmpt ligand with metals (M(II) = Cu, Mn, Ni, Co, Zn, Cd, Pd) and characterized by various physico-chemical techniques. From magnetic moment studies, square planar geometry is suggested for Zn(II), Cd(II), Pd(II) complexes, octahedral geometry is proposed for Co(II), Ni(II) and Mn(II) and distorted octahedral for Cu(II) complexes. Thermo gravimetric (TG) curves indicate the decomposition of complexes in four to five steps. The presence of coordinated water in metal complexes was confirmed by thermal, elemental analysis and IR data. Free ligand and its complexes were assayed in vitro for their antibacterial activity against gram positive and gram negative bacteria using chloramphenicol as a standard market-drug. Results: The reported complexes were synthesized through greener protocol that is grindstone method by mixing the ligand and metal salts in 2:1 molar ratio. Products were obtained in good yield with sharp melting point. Conclusion: Studies have indicated that such complexes can be prepared by environment friendly approach which requires less time, simple workup for isolation and purification with good yield. The [Ni(pmpt)2(H2O)2] complex showed excellent antibacterial activity while other reported metal complexes showed weak antibacterial activity.

Transitionmetal complexes with pyrazole-based ligands: Part 21. Thermal decomposition of copper and cobalt halide complexes with 3,5-dimethyl-1- thiocarboxamidepyrazole

The thermal decomposition of Cu2L2Cl4, Cu2L2Cl2, Cu2L2Br 2 and Co2L2Cl4 complexes (L=3,5-dimethyl-1-thiocarboxamidepyrazole) is described. The influence of the central ion to ligand mole ratio on the course of complex formation is examined in reaction of L with copper(II) chloride. In Cu(II):L mole ratio of 1:1, in methanolic solution the reaction yields to yellow-green Cu2L 2Cl4 crystals. In the filtrate a thermodynamically more stable orange Cu2L2Cl2 copper(I) complex is forming. With a Cu(II):L mole ratio of 1:2 only the latter compound is obtained. The composition and the structure of the compounds have been determined on the basis of customary methods. On the basis of FTIR spectrum of the intermediate which is forming during the thermal decomposition of Cu2L 2Cl2 a decomposition mechanism is proposed.

Lamellar copper(I) thiocyanate-based coordination polymers containing the alkali cation ligating thiacrown ether 1,10-dithia-18-crown-6

The lamellar coordination polymer ?2[(CuSCN)2-(mu-1,10DT18C6)] (l,10DT18C6 = l,10-dithia-18-crown-6), in which staircase-like CuSCN double chains are bridged by thiacrown ether ligands, may be prepared in two triclinic modifications la and 1b by reaction of CuSCN with 1,10DT18C6 in respectively benzonitrile or water. Performing the reaction in acetonitrile in the presence of an equimolar quantity of KSCN leads, in contrast, to formation of the K+ ligating 2-dimensional thiocyanatocuprate(I) net ?2[{Cu2(SCN)3}-] of 2, half of whose Cu(I) atoms are connected by 1,10DT18C6 macrocycles. The potassium cations in ?2[{K(CH3CN)}{Cu2(SCN) 3(mu-l,10DT18C6)}] (2) are coordinated by all six potential donor atoms of a single thia crown ether in addition to a thiocyanate S and an acetonitrile N atom. Under similar conditions, reaction of Cul, NaSCN and 1,10DT18C6 affords ?2[{Na(CH3CN)2}{Cu 4I4(SCN)(mu-1,10DT18C6)}] (3), which contains distorted Cu4I4 cubes as characteristic molecular building units. These are bridged by thiocyanate and thiacrown ether ligands into corrugated Na+ ligating sheets. In the presence of divalent Ba2+ cations, charge compensation requirements lead to formation of discrete [Cu(SCN)3(1,10DT18C6-KS)]2- anions in ?2 [Ba{Cu(SCN)3(1,10DT18C6-KS)}] (4). Triboluminescent Electrospun Mats with Blue-Green Emission under Mechanical Force

Fibrous mechanosensing elements can provide information about the direction of crack propagation and the mechanism of material failure when they are homogeneously dispersed into the bulk volume of materials. A fabrication strategy of fibrous systems showing triboluminescent (TL) responses is in high demand for such applications. In this work, micrometer-sized Cu(NCS)(py)2(PPh3) crystals were synthesized, and polymeric fibrous mats containing the TL crystals were obtained via electrospinning as a stress probe for the determination of mechanical impact. Four different polymeric systems have been employed (PMMA, PS, PU, and PVDF), and the mechano-optical sensing performance of electrospun mats of the polymer-crystal composites was measured. Photophysical properties (quantum yield, band gap, and broadness of the emission) of the TL crystal/electrospun mat composites were also studied. TL and PL emission maxima of the PU-based composite mat show identical behavior due to the chemical affinity between the two structures and the smallest fiber diameter. Moreover, the PU fiber mats exhibit long-lived bluish-green emission persisting over a large number of drops.
